Dog Walking

I will take your dog for an hour-long walk local to you. The maximum number of dogs I walk at any time is three; this ensures that I can keep a watchful eye on all the dogs and that your dog is individually cared for.​

Dogs will be walked on leads unless you have completed a form confirming that your dog has good recall and has good social skills. I will provide poo bags and treats.

I recognise that many dogs have allergies or sensitive stomachs, so please let me know in the registration form if your dog has any dietary requirements.

After the walk, I ensure any muddy paws are given a good clean, if needed, before dropping them back to you.

The safety and well-being of every dog in my care is always a top priority.

I am fully insured with Pet Business Insurance, which covers accidents and animal injury and public liability. I also hold a DBS certificate.

I have completed my Introduction to Dog Training, with the New Skills Academy, enabling me to support you and your dog with your training needs, as well as dog walking.

I have completed a CPD accredited Dog First Aid Emergency Canine Care course & more recently, Canine First Aid Level 2 (Level 2).

In compliance with UK law, all dogs should be microchipped and be wearing a collar and ID tag.

If your dog is not neutered, I will only be able to take them on a solo walk and not in a group walk.

Absolutely. We arrange a meet and greet before starting a dog walking contract. This will give you and your dog a chance to meet me and to ensure that your dog is happy coming for walks, as well as talk through your registration form.

We will discuss:

  • Your requirements
  • How best to access the property to collect your dog when you are not home
  • Where your pets’ things are kept (in one general area is advisable)
  • Your pets likes and dislikes
  • Where they are allowed to go in the home when you are not home
  • Your pets feeding requirements
  • If applicable, any health requirements.

I will also request to take your dog for a solo walk to get to know each other.

In the event of an emergency, we will immediately call you or your nominated emergency contact person if you are unavailable. If your dog requires veterinary assistance, I will take your dog to your named vet or the nearest one.

I will wipe any muddy paws, on request – please leave a towel in a convenient place for when we return after a walk.

This will be up to the walker’s discretion on the day and only with the owner’s prior permission, having completed a registration form and providing that the dog’s recall is satisfactory.

Unless a solo walk has been specifically requested, there will be a maximum of four dogs (usually three) for any walk. Groups will be carefully selected with the breed, age, sex, personality and energy levels in mind.

During warmer weather, dogs’ risk of heatstroke increases. To reduce the risk of this, I will cancel the walk and notify you. You will not be charged if I cancel in this instance; however, I will offer an alternative service, such as a pop-in-home visit, if required.

Where possible, I will offer early morning walks, but for dogs that are home alone, pop-in-home visits will be offered.

Generally, I will keep to shaded areas for walks on warmer days. I also try to restrict running around and ensure plenty of drinking water is available.

In the event of a Red Warning for Wind, walks will be cancelled for safety.

All dogs must have been neutered and be up to date with vaccinations.
